Checking in on Al

Some of your may remember our giant and very lovable chestnut Al, Riding school life wasn’t for him. Some horses thrive in riding school life, and others just aren’t suited, so we then rehome them to ensure they are happy and healthy and well-cared for.

Sabrina, our Operations/ Rider extraordinaire fell in love with Al while he was at the stables and bought him in January 2022. Al now lives on a property in Terrey Hills with Kiwi her other horse. He is living the pampered life, tucked into a cozy stable at night and sharing a lovely big paddock with her other other horse Kiwi during the day.

Al’s weeks consist of a nice mix of dressage, showjumping, lunging and trail riding. He loves his rest days where he can hang out with his best buddy Kiwi and eat grass until his heart’s content! He’s a particular fan of his regular osteo sessions which help him feel his best.

“Al has been showing me the ropes of higher level showjumping (1.10-1.20m) and we’re also fine tuning his higher level dressage skills.” Says Sabrina, she hopes to start getting out to some competitions and clinics when the weather permits!! So look out for Al at Northside and SIEC later in the year.

Sabrina comments that “Al is still a funny, loveable guy who loves a cuddle and a scratch. His favourite trick is to ‘beg’ for treats. He can be quirky at times but he really loves to jump and gives the best feel over a fence”.
