Farewell to our beloved coach Elsa!

After five fabulous years, our much loved coach Elsa is leaving to finish her 5th, and second last year of Vet studies out at Sydney Uni’s Vet campus in Camden. Elsa was one of the first to join the MC Equestrian team when the school opened at the beginning of 2018.

Elsa began working in the stables in the afternoons to save money for her gap year before starting university. She then returned and continued working whilst she was studying at uni and later started her coach training qualifications.

Elsa then became a coach at MC Equestrian and has always been a camp favourite among the school holiday camp kids, with her caring, warm and patient nature.

We asked Elsa to share some of her MCEQ memories with us:

Things have changed significantly since I started. The riding school only had 4 school horses back then - Dusty, Jack, Scotty and Cody! Now I find it hard to keep track of all the horses as we continue to expand. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with MC Equestrian, watching the school grow and move to the new premises where we are today.

“Some of my fondest memories have been doing dress up relay races in the holiday camps, and watching some of the kids that I taught for their very first lessons on a horse, progress and go on to have lessons with other coaches doing more advanced things!”

“Dusty was like my right-hand man for many of my coaching days and I think he really helped to teach me how to coach! He was a fantastic pony, always looking after our riders and I will always remember him.”

Elsa also speaks highly of Dee and was particularly grateful to her during the tough COVID times. “During COVID when there wasn’t much coaching work available, Dee went out of her way to find me and some of the other coach’s work to do to keep us employed. This led to some very varied work days, often with Amber who became my Bunnings and Kimbriki tip buddy!’

Dee McVicker “Elsa has always been a kind and thoughtful team member and I’ll be forever grateful for her support and unwavering loyalty. She’s a gentle soul and her calm positivity will be sorely missed. I’m hoping for a few guest appearances in holiday camps in the future! Or maybe we’ll see her as a vet – I know she’ll be fabulous in that role too..I wish her all the very best.”

Elsa will be missed by both the team and her riders (and of course the horses!). We wish her well on her career path to being a Vet and look forward to hearing about her future successes.
