Nicole in the Spotlight!

Nicole joined the team in March 2021 and quickly established herself as a knowledgeable, experienced and much-loved member of the team.

What led you to start your job at MC Equestrian?

I was looking to continue my career in riding and coaching. I wanted to to be surrounded by a professional and knowledgeable group of like-minded people, who are passionate about correct training and care in this sport and sharing it with others - and MCEQ was the perfect fit!

What does your typical day at MC Equestrian involve?

My day is spent coaching horse riding lessons for all abilities. Occasionally, if I have gaps between classes, I look over the horses gear, making sure it is fitting correctly and hop on a few horses to school them.

Tell us about your experience prior to joining the MC Equestrian Riding School?

I worked yard shifts during high school at a small stable and when I finished school I took up a full time job as Yard Manager at another riding school. It wasn’t long until I was roped into teaching a few kiddies and I got hooked straight away.

Since then I have worked through the levels of my EA coach certification with numerous coaches and mentors who have all taught me so much. Along the way I was offered two scholarships to a school of riding down in Melbourne, that specialised in dressage, which was a fantastic experience. It was after that role that I joined MC Equestrian.

Tell us about your horse?

I own an Irish sport horse called Roman. He has just turned seven and I have had him from an unbroken three-year-old. I started learning how to educate horses with Roman, and he has helped guide me through understanding the principles of young horse schooling. He is such a goofball, however is the most reliable and lovable character who will be your best friend and try his best through everything. I don’t know who loves him more; me or my family.

Tell us about a funny horse moment?

I was in England with my Mum and we were taking some horses out on a ride to the beach. We must have missed the memo but the beach we were on, turned out to be a nudist beach! We didn’t realise until we were galloping down the shoreline and a few very concerned bodies popped up from behind the dunes. Mum and I couldn’t stop laughing.

Tell us about your favourite riding trails?

The best trail I have been on would have been in Glenorchy, in the South Island of New Zealand. It was spectacular! I also love hacking down the low end of the perimeter trail in Terry Hills - a little easier to get to right now!

What do you like best about working at MC Equestrian?

I love the community that Dee has created at MC Equestrian. Everyone is there to support one another and help grow each other’s knowledge. The clients, horses and my work colleagues all make it such a fun place to be with each day bringing something new.
