Nina in the Spotlight!

Nina joined the MC Equestrian team in August 2020. Nina is a capable rider and hard worker.

What led you to start your job at MC Equestrian?

I had met Dee through Northside and was impressed with the riding school. I wanted to work with horses and ponies so thought it would be a great opportunity.

What does a typical day involve for you?

My typical day at MC Equestrian would involve feeding the horses, making sure they have their medications if needed, turning them out to the paddocks, mucking out stables, rugging the horses if I’m on a night shift in the winter months and helping students tack up for their rides when necessary (pre-Covid!).

What do you like best about working at MC Equestrian?

I love the cute ponies, they are adorable and so full of character!

Tell us about a funny house moment?

When I was younger, I rode a very cheeky palomino pony who would only move if he was led. My Dad used to have to run in front of us at shows to get him going. It was hilarious. (See photo below)

Tell us about your horse Casper

Casper is a 6-year-old OTTB (off the track thoroughbred) that I brought straight off the track in July 2020. He’s just beautiful, like a big Labrador who likes to follow me around the paddock and he loves a good sunbake! He has an amazing temperament and is a fantastic show jumper. He is currently in rehab, which has been little tedious, we are hoping to resume jumping and competing (post Covid).

Tell us about your favourite riding trail?

The forest behind my Grandparents farm in the South of France. We would gallop through the hay fields and visit the surrounding villages. It was brilliant.

What are you most looking forward to when the Covid-19 lockdown finishes?

Getting back to doing competitions and funnily enough - going back to school!
