Hannah in the Spotlight!

Hannah has become one of our key team members, quietly working behind the scenes to care for the horses and quickly noticing anything out of the ordinary, helping the coaches to do their jobs so well. She’s extremely competent with horses and always brings a smile and a helpful attitude to both fellow team members and clients. She knows our operation and horses inside out and is a truly valued part of the MC Equestrian team.

What led you to start your job at MC Equestrian?

I first joined MC Equestrian as a student about 5 years ago. I then did some volunteering at Holiday Camps and helping out around the stables and learning the ropes. Before long, I was offered some casual shifts, which gave me the chance to get even more involved and build my skills.

During Year 11 and 12, I completed my school-based apprenticeship with Dee as part of my non-ATAR pathway, which was a great opportunity to combine hands-on experience with my studies and learn directly from the team here at MCEQ.

Do you have a favourite horse at work, or one with a cheeky personality that always makes you laugh?

It’s hard to pick a favourite because I honestly love them all, but if I had to choose, it would be Fletcher, Cody and River. Fletcher reminds me of my own horse, he’s got a similar blaze down his face, which makes me smile every time I see him. Cody has such a quirky personality; he’s always moving his top lip around like he’s trying to rap, which never fails to make me laugh. And then there’s River, he’s so tiny and sweet that I could easily take him home if I could!

What does your typical day at MC Equestrian involve?

A typical day for me usually involves feeding the horses their afternoon hay and hard feed, cleaning the stables and the areas around them, and helping move horses between our two locations for their lessons and helping the coaches out when needed. In the evenings, I rug the horses for the night and make sure they’re all comfortable and settled before heading home.

Tell us what you like best about working for MC Equestrian Riding School?

What I like best about working at MC Equestrian is the people. The clients are always so friendly, and I really enjoy meeting new riders and their families. I also love being part of the MC team, everyone’s so supportive and always willing to share their knowledge and experience. And, of course, having the chance to work with horses every day is something I’m truly passionate about.

Tell us about your horses?

I own a Warmblood mare named Bo, who’s both a dressage and jumping diva. I’ve had Bo for three years now, and she’s well and truly stuck with me! We even share the same phobia of needles, which makes vet visits a bit of an adventure. I also lease a Welsh Pony cross Warmblood mare called Nugget, who’s been with me for about a year. Nugget definitely prefers jumping over dressage, she tries her best to enjoy flatwork, but deep down I know it’s not really her thing, and she’s not shy about letting me know!

What is your favourite horse quote?
