What led you to start your job at MC Equestrian?

I had been working as a riding coach at another school and was simply looking for a change. I visited a few different places, but the vibe at MC really stood out, it felt welcoming, and everyone was genuinely lovely. So when the opportunity came up to join the team, I jumped at it.

What does your typical day at MC Equestrian involve?

I spend most of my time at MC coaching, but in my spare moments, I usually help out with admin or extra jobs around the yard. I also try to fit in a ride either before or after work, and if I’m lucky, I sometimes manage a ride during my break too!

Do you have a favourite horse at work, or one with a cheeky personality that always makes you laugh?

My favourite horse would have to be Boofy. I love his grumpy old man personality, even though deep down he’s an absolute sweetheart. He’s also an incredible school horse and teaches our riders so much.

Tell us what you like best about working for MC Equestrian Riding School?

I really love the team at MC, it’s great to be surrounded by people who all share the same goals and bring such a positive attitude to everything they do. There’s so much knowledge and experience across the team, so there’s always something new to learn.

Tell us about your horse?

I’ve owned my mare Ragity for about 4 years now however leased her for 12 months before purchasing her., she’s a palomino quarter horse, she loves scratches on her neck and will scratch me back when I get the right spot! We’re really enjoying getting into eventing but we also love to go on trails sometimes to have a bit of a gallop.

Tell us about one of your favourite horse experiences?

My fiancé and I went trail riding in Iceland — we rode past a beautiful natural geyser and crossed a small river! The landscape was absolutely amazing, and the Icelandic horses were so cute and fluffy!. Closer to home, I love taking Ragity down to McCarrs Creek for a swim. It’s the perfect way to cool off in summer and adds a fun, relaxed change of pace for both of us.

What is your favourite horse quote?

"At its finest, rider and horse are joined not by tack, but by trust. Each is totally reliant upon the other. Each is the selfless guardian of the other’s well-being.” – Author unknown
